Description

Details

The White Cliffs of Dover is a renowned coastal walk with stunning views of the English Channel and Dover Harbour. The landmark is considered one of England's finest, located at the end of the North Downs ridge offering views of the French coast. Formed around 65 to 80 million years ago as a tropical ocean, the chalk cliffs took an estimated 10,000 years to form and measure up to 250 meters deep. Historical significance includes Deal Beach as the possible landing site of Julius Caesar's forces, and Henry VIII's Walmer and Deal Castles as defense against French invasion. Today, the castles remain popular tourist attractions.
