One of our favourites walk with amazing views and a magic forest. An open ridge walk to Ivinghoe Beacon, gentle forests, and a classic village. Dogs can use this trail as well, but must be on a leash.

Meeting Point

We'll meet at Euston Station at 8:45 am and leave the meeting point at 9:00 am.

Planned arrival time back into London of 7:00 pm (we have a group train ticket, and you are committed for the day until then).

Details

This route - following the Ridgeway along the Chiltern escarpment to Ivinghoe Beacon - is exhilarating, offering downland scenery as fine as anything on the South Downs. From the Beacon itself, it seems as if you can see half of England on a fine day.

Food

We will stop during the hike for a snack lunch, so please bring food and drink. We will visit a pub after the hike where we can get refreshments.

Cost

The trip is £28 per person, which includes the guided hike and return train travel from the group departure station listed at the top of this event.

Planned arrival time back into London at 7:00pm. We have a group train ticket, so all attendees will go and return together to the same station. If you want to return separately, please buy your individual train ticket.

What to Bring

  • Suitable hiking clothes & hiking footwear (ideally hiking boots) Waterproof jacket, trousers and footwear are recommended.
  • Water (at least 1 and ideally 2 litres)
  • Packed lunch/picnic
  • Money for drinks and refreshments after the hike
  • That's it! We will take care of train tickets, logistics on the day etc, so that you can just turn up and have a great day :-)
