Description

Details

The Barranco de Masca is a narrow valley in the northwest of the island of Tenerife. The gorge is located within the Macizo de Teno. The gorge is a popular tourist destination due to its spectacular scenery and unique geology

The Walk starts just left of the ridge that runs through the centre of the town - and, despite requiring the use of hands for support in a couple of places and often being steep and full of loose rock, is easy enough for relatively experienced hikers. Along the walk, the sides of the ravine climb as high as 600 m above the sea, and at its narrowest the gorge is only 20 m wide. These narrow sections are the most memorable, since they're filled with bizarre, swirling rock formations and curious endemic vegetation. After around two hours of hiking down the gorge, the noise of waves breaks into the still, humid air, which soon gives way to a sea breeze. The path terminates at a pretty little black sand beach - a great place to relax and swim.

PLAN

Day 1: Walking through the coast of Tenerife, with the proposal to visit the following (whatever we have time for): Tancon viewpoint, Sand beach, Los Gigantes Cliff Natural Pool, Cow Cave, puddle of the devil ... We will visit the best corners of Tenerife, and we will give a good account of its gastronomy.

Day 2:  Masca Trekking, 8 km rocky road. A big part of this walk will be done on foot through the trails of the National Park. We will take a boat to come back to Los Gigantes.
