We'll meet at Victoria station from 9:10am and leave the meeting point at 9:20am

This walk is covered by our Club's insurance. Our Club is registered on The British Mountaineering Council (BMC)



Initial section on the seafront promenade (or cliff top park) of Birchington-on-Sea, a quiet seaside town, you follow the raised sea wall over remote flat marshland, along an unspoilt shingle beach which has interesting wildflowers and seabirds: also fine views of distant shipping and windfarms, and the ruins of Reculver church as an aiming point on the horizon.

Recluver, it remains the twin towers of a 12th C church set amongst the ruins of a Roman Fort.

We will stop during the hike for a snack lunch so please bring food and drink. We will visit a pub after the hike where we can get refreshments.


The cost includes the guided hike, the transport and the Club's insurance.

What to Bring

  • Suitable hiking clothes & hiking footwear, ideally hiking boots Waterproof jacket, trousers and footwear are recommended.
  • Water (at least 1 and ideally 2 litres)
  • Packed lunch/picnic
  • Money for drinks and refreshments after the hike
  • That's it! We will take care of train tickets, logistics on the day etc, so that you can just turn up and have a great day :-)
