Mt Triglav (2,863 m) - Beginners Via Ferrata

Gram Lake Bled then trek, via ferrata and gap your way up Slovenia's highest peak.

Located in the centre of Triglav National Park, the dramatic rocky summit of Mount Triglav (2864 m) is hard to miss. An ascent of Slovenia's highest peak is considered a rite of passage for Slovenians and visitors alike.

Via ferrata is a perfect half-way step between hiking and climbing! You're on a rock, clipped in for safety, but you can still get up using just your feet. This trip is for total beginners who want to try it out, and summit Slovenia's highest mountain!

Why is it special? The views along the way are absolutely breathtaking. It is also relatively quiet, so you will have plenty of peace and quiet along the way.

Is it difficult? Yes! If you go all the way to the top it is 2868 m.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN BLED

Jump on a flight to Ljubljana and meet your airport transfer for the short journey to Bled. We will visit Savica Waterfall (recommended by National Geographic). And then, we spend the afternoon/evening exploring this incredible town.

DAY 2 and DAY 3: Visiting Triglav, the highest peaks and Julian Alps

Once you reach the top, time stops. Here, mountains rise over 2500 metres, thus making the Julian Alps the highest mountain range in Slovenia. At 2864 metres, Mt. Triglav is the highest mountain in Slovenia. On the way to Triglav, we will see the mountains Rjavina and Macesnovec and the valley Zgornja Radovna.

Day 4

A walk to the Bled Castle, 11th-century clifftop castle overlooking Lake Bled.

Dramatically perched on a sheer cliff overlooking the emerald-green lake is a castle with a fairytale quality and a 1000-year history which invites visitors to explore its museum collections and enjoy a range of activities closely linked to the castle's traditions.

Day 5: TOURIST DAY  & FLY TO LONDON

Breakfast together, We will visit the best corners of Slovenia and we will give a good account of its gastronomy and organize the return

PLEASE NOTE

All our adventures take place in wild places. Things can go wrong in wild places. Your perfectly planned itinerary may change a bit (or a lot) if the weather turns, someone gets hurt, or a volcano erupts. Usually though, changes make it all the better.

ACCOMMODATION 

For the trek, you will be staying in Kredarica mountain hut on the slopes of Mount Triglav. The hut is basic but comfortable, with dormitory-style bunks, electricity, water, central heating, and a restaurant serving a range of foods.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Suitable hiking clothes & hiking footwear (ideally hiking boots). Waterproof jacket, trousers and footwear are recommended
  • Helmet, harnesses. You have the option to hire it on our Club.
